Gemotions

The incessant ringing of the phone was a cruel symphony. Sarah ignored it, the sound filtering through the fog of exhaustion that clung to her. She just wanted to be still, to vanish into the quiet of the morning.

A monstrous groan, followed by a resounding crash. She finally rose and shuffled to the window. The ancient willow had collapsed, taking a good chunk of Mrs. Gable’s fence with it. Sarah sighed. “Not again,” she murmured, already anticipating the barrage of frantic calls and demands.
